They
may be paid or unpaid. They may work full
time or part time. Within the activity profession,
it is often built in to the responsibilities
of your department. They work in a multitude
of settings, i.e. for profit and not for
profit organizations.
Some
examples are: Service Clubs, Long Term Care
Settings, Military, Community Organizations,
Education, Emergency Services, Business,
Cause Related Issues (Animal Welfare League,
Environment, Government Programs (Americorps),
Courts, etc.
As
leaders of volunteers, you work through
your volunteers- people who give their time
with no expectation of reimbursement. The
word volunteer simply indicates the pay
status of the individual, not the role he
or she fulfills.
They
may refer to themselves with their specific
titles such as:
Board Member, Community Organizer, Trustee, Public Servant, Lay Minister,
Friend, Friendly Visitor, etc.
